Approved by City Council in 2013, the stage 2 LRT (light rail) is essentially a fast moving train with its own railway through the high traffic areas of Ottawa. Not only will this be better for the environment, it means your trip from one end of the city to the other will be much faster and more efficient. The 36 km of railway will be ready for public use in 2018 and will sprawl from Trim Rd in Orleans to Bayshore and Algonquin College in the west end. There are other potential expansion options for the future as well. Traveling through downtown Ottawa during rush hour will be a breeze with the new underground LRT tunnel. No more waiting in traffic!
